Ultrasonic nebulizers deliver medicine by using high-frequency vibrations to turn liquid medication into a mist. This fine mist is then inhaled by the patient via an attached mouthpiece or mask.
Compared to jet compressors, ultrasonic nebulizers are very quiet, smaller in size and provide very quick treatments. Most ultrasonic nebulizers come with a rechargeable battery pack, making them perfect for travel and on-the-go use.
Here are some things to consider when choosing an ultrasonic nebulizer:
There are medication restrictions for ultrasonic nebulizer systems because they transfer heat to the medication. Ultrasonic nebs are not intended for use with Pulmicort. Check with your doctor to see which nebulizers cannot be used with your specific medication.
Ultrasonic nebulizers are available in handheld models only, making them very portable and great for travel. All of the ultrasonic nebulizers we carry come with their own carrying case for easy transport.
The Omron MicroAir is perfect for travel and on-the-go use since you don’t have to worry about finding a wall outlet. It’s also so small that it fits right into your hand.
Ultrasonic nebs are the quietest of all types of nebulizers. The Omron Micro-Air nebulizer is totally silent – no one will even know you’re getting a treatment!
Ultrasonic nebulizers produce a more consistent particle size than do jet nebulizers. The aerosol particle size released by ultrasonic nebulizers is typically smaller and in higher volumes.
If you want quick treatment times, ultrasonic nebulizers are the way to go. They offer much faster treatments compared to jet nebulizers.
Some of the newer ultrasonic nebulizers, like the Omron NE-U22V1, feature vibrating mesh technology (VMT). This means the nebulizer does not transfer heat to the medication, allowing it to be used with nearly any inhaled medication.
Most ultrasonic nebs use regular AA batteries, so there’s no need to hassle with cords. Some nebs use rechargeable batteries and can be plugged into an outlet.
We carry a large selection of ultrasonic nebulizers to accommodate all persons with respiratory conditions. If you still need help choosing an ultrasonic nebulizer, please call us at 1-888-550-2450 Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
An ultrasonic nebulizer does not use compressed air like a traditional nebulizer machine. Instead, an ultrasonic nebulizer uses high frequency vibrations to aerosolize the medication into a very fine mist. Since ultrasonic nebulizers don’t compress air, they operate very quietly, tend to be much smaller in size, and can fit in nearly any container. One of the best ultrasonic nebulizers (and one of the best nebulizer in general) is the Omron Micro Air. This Omron nebulizer features very fast treatment times, so you spend less time inhaling medication and more time doing what you love.
