Cautions for nebulizer use with alcohol and marijuana

If you have an old nebulizer lying around, be careful it does not get in the wrong hands.  While nebulizers are intended for treatment of respiratory treatments, when in the wrong hands, they can be misused for purposes of getting high or drunk.

Mischievous users have found that nebulized alcohol gets into the blood stream more quickly through the lungs than through the stomach.  Users report getting drunk more quickly without a hangover.  There is no data about what inhaling alcohol directly into the lungs will do to the lungs.  Other users have used nebulizers to vaporize marijuana to get high.  Parents should be sure they know where all old nebulizers and parts are at all times and are out of reach of those who may potentially misuse the device.
