Last night on America’s Got Talent, the last act in Portland, Oregon was a pair of sisters with phenomenal voices. While they were great singers, they were not the best singers ever, and in a show with sword swallowers and rock wall dancers, you have to have something special to stand out.  What set these girls apart (and made the producers put them in as the shows’ final act of the night), was their incredible story.  Both girls had Cystic Fibrosis and were told they would never be able to sing.

Christina and Ali belted it out despite the cards being stacked against them.  Not only was it great publicity for the girls and their future singing career, (I am sure they have a record deal in the works) but it was also great publicity for a disease that so many struggle with.  The sisters and their two other siblings all suffer with Cystic Fibrosis.  Cystic Fibrosis is a disease that causes the body to product a thick mucus which clogs the lungs and can lead to life-threatening infections. People with Cystic Fibrosis use nebulizers to help manage and treat their condition.  The girls looked and sounded healthy and vibrant, and they helped to show people that with the proper treatment, people with Cystic Fibrosis can live full lives and follow their passion.  Kudos to Christina and Ali for their tremendous courage and for sharing their amazing story (and voices) with the world.
