Nebulizer masks are ideal for young children, elderly adults and those who have difficulty using a mouthpiece. Masks allow you to free your hands during treatment and offer more comfort since you can sit back and relax. The neb mask you choose should fit snugly onto your face and completely cover your mouth and nose.
Here are some factors to consider when choosing a nebulizer mask:
Check the size of the mask to see if it’ll fit your face. Larger masks are for adults and smaller masks are for children. The nebulizer mask should fit securely over your mouth and nose.
Just Nebulizers carries pediatric masks (e.g. Bubbles the Fish II) with friendly character designs to help young children feel at ease.
Most neb masks can be used with any nebulizer compressor system. Some masks are designed for specific nebulizers. Check to see which nebulizers or compressors the mask will fit.
Here's a list of neb masks that work with a specific compressor:
Look for a mask made of soft silicone for more flexibility and comfort.
A mask with a front-loading design, such as Bubbles the Fish II, helps minimize aerosol deposition in and around the eyes. These masks attach to the neb kit horizontally. Some front-loading masks come with an elbow attachment so it can be used with a bottom-loaded nebulizer.
Make sure the elastic strap on the mask is secure, yet not overly tight.
Similar to other nebulizer accessories, nebulizer masks should be replaced regularly (about 6 months). Most masks are dishwasher-safe and may be boiled for cleanliness.

Adult nebulizer masks and nebulizer masks for kids are a great way to increase comfort during treatments. Nebulizer masks let you relax more since you don't have to worry about cupping your lips around a nebulizer mouthpiece for the duration of the treatment. Omron makes a great nebulizer mask for adults and seniors who may be unable to maintain this seal around the nebulizer mouthpiece. Read More
Often a pediatric nebulizer mask is used for a child that may have trouble using a traditional mouthpiece. Fun child themed nebulizer masks with animal and cartoonish designs, such as this fish mask for children, are also used to calm a hesitant child into taking a treatment. This usually translates into a better overall treatment for your little one since less medication is wasted.
